349 Jumbo Biopore Units Distributed in Kebayoran Lama

A total of 349 jumbo biopore containers were distributed to six urban villages across Kebayoran Lama Sub-district, South Jakarta, to strengthen organic waste management at the source. The distribution was led by Kebayoran Lama Sub-district Head Mustofa Thohir at the sub-district office.

According to Mustofa, the initiative is part of the city's efforts to reduce waste generation following restrictions on waste sent to the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST).

"The government continues to tackle the waste issue through initiatives such as biopore holes, modern teba, and composters for managing organic waste," he said on Monday (7/20).

He explained that the 349 jumbo biopore containers were provided through a collaboration between the Kebayoran Lama Sub-district and the South Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency.

According to Mustofa, the containers are expected to encourage residents to sort household waste at the source, helping reduce the volume of waste sent to final disposal sites.

"We continue to encourage residents at every community meeting to install biopore holes at home. Through these efforts, we hope waste accumulation will continue to decline as organic waste is processed through the teba and biopore systems," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Kebayoran Lama Environment Unit Head Ian Septyana said Kebayoran Lama Sub-district now has 669 organic waste management facilities, including modern teba, jumbo biopore containers, and composters.

"Today, we also distributed 70 jumbo biopore containers allocated by the sub-district head to urban villages across Kebayoran Lama," he noted.

Ian added that, in addition to distributing waste management facilities, his team has intensified outreach on household waste sorting with support from various stakeholders. The effort is intended to build greater public awareness of sustainable waste management.

"We hope these efforts continue to have a positive impact on the environment. We also hope residents become more aware that waste management is a shared responsibility that must begin at the source," he asserted.
